Paine College to Build A

 Health, Education, Athletic, Learning Complex

( H.E.A.L. Complex )

For some years Paine College needed a gymnasium. That need has been envisioned as a new health, education, athletic, and learning complex. This year, the Board of Trustees under the leadership of Attorney Robert Bell, Chair, and Bishop Othal H. Lakey, Vice-Chair, voted to make that vision a reality.

Upon completion the H.E.A.L. Complex will cost twenty-five million dollars ($25,000,000). The capital campaign to fund the H.E.A.L. Complex will extend over a five year period.

Programs housed in this facility will expand opportunities for students, faculty, staff and community patrons to engage in activities that will promote healthy lifestyles. They will also contribute to our knowledge and understanding of health-related concerns through our advanced study of scientific research

As proud ecclesiastical progeny of Lucius Holsey and direct beneficiaries of the Paine College legacy, the Sixth Episcopal District, along with the Christian Methodist Episcopal Church, is committing and pledging one million dollars ($1,000,000) to make the H.E.A.L. vision a reality.

To meet this commitment and fulfill this pledge the Sixth District is launching a Paine College H.E.A.L. campaign. Our goal is to raise one hundred thousand dollars ($100,000) each year for the next five years.

To reach our goal, each Region of the Episcopal District has been given a Regional Goal. Local churches within each Region will be asked by the Joint Boards of Finance to reach specific local church goals. Funds raised for Regional Goals are to be reported by thePresiding Elders at the Leadership Training School the first Sunday in June, beginning in 2008. To kick off the Sixth District Campaign, Bishop Othal and Dr. Elfreda A. Lakey are committing and pledging $500 each year to each Region for the next five years for a total of ten thousand dollars ($10,000).

Regional Goals:

South Georgia Region $16,000

West Georgia Region $16,000

Central Georgia Region $32,000

Georgia, North, Region $36,000

It is our hope and prayer that every pastor and member of the Sixth Episcopal District will respond to the appeal to share in the H.E.A.L. Complex vision of Paine College. This is our commitment and our pledge. We shall, in the name of God and his Christ, fulfill our pledge.
